OFF LEASH TRAINING

Sometimes you need to take a different approach to keeping your dog safe. When that happens, you and your K9Dojo dog obedience trainer may decide that e-collar training is the best alternative.

E-collar training should be done through a professional dog trainer with experience in successfully applying e-collar imprinting. Our e-collar training professionals can teach you to use this tool as a method of guiding your dog towards the proper behavior rather than as a punishment taken to an extreme.

Important: E-collars are not the same as bark collars, and they should never be used as a way to punish your dog. Not all dog trainers understand this. At K9Dojo, we believe that an e-collar should only be used under certain circumstances, and we never start at the highest setting. It’s a tool to guide your dog into wanting to behave the way they need to behave – period.

Circumstances where you might consider using e-collar training include:

Deafness in your dog. In this case, having the e-collar on vibrate or lower stimulation modes can help you communicate with them.
On-leash obedience training (when other methods haven’t been adequately effective)
Off-leash obedience training (when other methods haven’t been adequately effective)
Obedience training in-motion, i.e. emergency commands
Reactivity or aggression
Hunting, e.g. retrievers
Field work or agility
]Feces ingestion
Excessive barking
Digging

A few facts about e-collars …

Misconception: E-collar training is used for one thing and in limited scenarios.

Fact: Once imprinting has been achieved, your dog can be trained using a long line in many different kinds of scenarios.

Dog obedience training is a process, and K9Dojo’s successful e-collar series works with you and your canine companion to maximize training flexibility as well as a broad range of possible scenarios where the results can be applied.
Misconception: E-collars are shock collars, and only punish the dog.

Fact: The days of one-size-fits-all, one button, one setting e-collars are gone.

Whereas e-collars used to be applied as a harsh corrective, they have since been refined and reworked into a mass-market, multi-use tool which is appropriate for a range of scenarios. The “shock collar” approach is the result of improperly trained and inexperienced users. Your dog deserves better.
Misconception: Dogs hate e-collars.

Fact: Using K9Dojo’s positive imprinting approach, your dog will be happy to see the collar before you even put it on.

We help you build a consistent experience with your dog so that the collar is associated with things the dog wants to do rather than behaviors you are punishing them for exhibiting.
