K9Dojo is a dog training and dog obedience training service owned and operated by Tomer Joury, with physical offices in midtown Toronto and in Richmond Hill. We offer dog obedience training in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), with coverage in Toronto, North York, Scarborough, Etobicoke, Mississauga, Richmond Hill, Markham, Brampton and more. Not sure whether we service your area? Contact us to find out.
We believe in providing the best dog obedience training possible to our clients – no treats, no tricks! Our approach uses operant conditioning as one of the main methods of teaching your dog the skills they need to be good canine citizens both at home and elsewhere.
Operant conditioning uses the dog’s actions to determine whether to reward them or to positively redirect them, praising good behavior in order to reinforce it as well as discourage bad behavior. We expect a lot from our dogs, so we make sure to give back as well through touch, sound and play.
K9Dojo emphasizes the first command response in all of our dog training courses and puppy training classes. While the methods are tailored to the individual needs of your dog, the overall goal is to teach your canine companion to react and respond correctly the first time you give a command. We focus on your dog first, then we teach you how to reinforce the behavioral changes so that you can continue the dog obedience training or puppy training that we started.
We offer three levels of dog obedience training – beginner dog training, intermediate dog training and advanced dog training – as well as more specialized courses such as puppy obedience training, behavior training, loose-leash walking and e-collar training. Each can be taken as a stand-alone learning opportunity, or you can build successively more complex skills in your dog by taking a selection of classes that work best for you and your dog.
K9Dojo owner Tomer Joury took his first dog training course at the age of nine, and has been at it in one way or another ever since. His passion has led to his education in dog training methodologies through apprenticeship, other top professionals, correspondence with military unit dog handlers, his peers and of course the dogs themselves – his and those of his clients.
Joury applies that passion to his work, and it’s evident in the results he achieves.
